The annual Downtown Bowling Green Lights Up was this past Thursday evening and I was able to attend for the first time. I’ve certainly been missing out the last few years. There were carriage rides, an acappella gospel group, hot chocolate, and of course, Santa Clause! It was such fun listening to everyone count down for the lights to come on and light up the square.
I also had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman who told me he served in Vietnam and that he comes to the lighting every year to play the spoons for passersby. He played a couple of songs for me and then played the Marine Hymn for a soldier who was taking a walk through the activities.
If you haven’t had the experience of seeing Downtown Bowling Green light up, I definitely suggest you make time to attend next year. It’s certainly worth the effort.
