Though spring is still a few days away on the calendar, it’s really already here in Bowling Green given the very mild winter we had. I’m certainly enjoying seeing everything begin to bloom and I’m hoping to take a walk around Fountain Square this weekend to take in all the beautiful scenery. In the meantime, I wanted to share a Dogwood bloom from the tree in my own yard. It’s not quite open yet and I think I love it more for just for that.

Exhibit Pieces | Fine Art Photographer Bowling Green KY

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Many of you have seen the images I’m sharing now, but I wanted to post them as a group to spread the word about two exhibits going on now.

First, there is the Public Art Hanging at The Gallery at 916. Head to downtown Bowling Green and stop in the gallery to vote for your favorite images. Votes are $1 each and the proceeds go to support CASA. What a great way to support our local community! I have two pieces in this exhibit and there are many other great images there from many local artists.

Second, there is the US Bank Celebration of the Arts that is on display at The Kentucky Library & Museum on the campus of WKU. There are many mediums on display here and all are gorgeous. I have two photography pieces here as well. Stop in and support the museum and local artists when you are looking for something to do one afternoon. While you’re there, you just might like to take a walk around the beautiful WKU campus.

Many of the pieces at each exhibit are available for purchase. Yet another opportunity to support the local art community!

My pieces at The Gallery at 916 are:

A River Runs Through It

For the Celebration of the Arts, I entered the following pieces:

Raising Money for CASA | Bowling Green KY Photographer

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Here in Bowling Green, The Gallery at 916 is having a public photography hanging from January 7th through February 12th to raise money and awareness for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). The public is encouraged to stop by and vote for their favorite artists and images. Votes are $1 each and proceeds will go to CASA.

I submitted two entries for the hanging and wanted to share them with everyone. Both of these are available for anyone to purchase either at the gallery or directly through contacting me. There are many other images for sale at the gallery as well. All images are from artists in South Central Kentucky and Northern Tennessee.

If you have the opportunity to stop by the gallery to view the images and vote for your favorites, I’m certain you won’t be disappointed in what you find.

A Morning Find | Butterfly | Kentucky Photographer

Monday, September 13th, 2010

I have always had an obsession with butterflies and dragonflies. In fact, I have several tattoos which include these two insects. It seems I am always on the hunt for a beautiful butterfly to capture in a photograph. It’s a difficult task because they are so skittish. This past Sunday morning, however, was a different scenario. Ric and I had been sitting on our patio enjoying some quiet time and a cup of iced coffee. Ric told me to look on the outside of one of our windows. There was a gorgeous butterfly hanging out, I presume because it was still a bit cool outside. I went inside to get a shot from the underside of the butterfly, then went back outside to see what all I could get. I took 35 shots! These are my six favorites. The butterfly even let me pick him up and transfer him from our window to a tree limb once I tired of looking at the dust on my window.

Butterflies and Moths | Nature | Kentucky Photographer

Monday, September 6th, 2010

It seems I am always trying to chase down a butterfly or a moth to try and get a photo. Most of the time I’m not quite fast enough to get the shot before they fly away. I happened to see this fellow trapped in a spider web one morning and thought I’d rescue him. He reciprocated by allowing me to move him to a flower and get a few shots. I Googled for about 30 minutes trying to decide what he is, but had no luck. If you know, feel free to post in the comments. If you look closely at the middle photo, you’ll see his “tongue” or whatever it’s called on a butterfly/moth. I thought that was pretty awesome!

Nashville Skyline | Art | Bowling Green, KY Photographer

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Ric and I recently had an opportunity to go on a dinner cruise aboard the General Jackson. This dinner cruise takes people on a trip down the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee. I debated with myself as to whether I should take my camera along for the evening since I knew it would be crowded. This was the EnSafe 30th year anniversary dinner, after all. In the end, I decided to get out of the line and go back to the Escape for my camera. Wow! I’m so glad I did. I didn’t come away with many photos from the evening, but that’s okay. The one I’m sharing is enough for me. I hope it is for you, too!

Mad for Macro

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Recently, a photography forum I am on had a macro challenge. Of course, I just had to get in on the fun because I am absolutely crazy about macro! It was a wonderful opportunity to hone my macro skills while I was at it.

Vineyard Favorites

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Ric and I took a few days to ourselves and spent them at Elkcreek Vineyards and Hunting Lodge in Owenton, KY. The vineyards were absolutely gorgeous! We were there three days and I honestly am looking forward to another visit in the future. I came home with lots of photos and wanted to take a moment to share a few of my favorites with you. If you’re a friend on Facebook, I’ll be posting an album with lots more photos soon. In the meantime, enjoy!

This was the patio outside our room where I was amazed at the beautiful fog drifting in one evening of our stay.

This is the wine cellar we went in on our tour of the winery. This photo is definitely going on a wall in our dining room where it’s all about vino!

Why go to a vineyard if you’re not going to get a photo of grapes on the vine! Another one for our wall.

After raining much of the day Tuesday, we were presented the gift of this beautiful and huge rainbow!

On our way to dinner on the grounds Monday evening, we came across a huge butterfly bush. I was greeted by several gorgeous butterflies and was able to capture a couple photos of them.
