I’m a member of ArtWorks, Inc., a local group that advocates arts in all mediums. Each year, ArtWorks sponsors the All Kentucky Juried Exhibition. This exhibit is open to all professional and amateur artists in Kentucky. This year, I entered “Writer’s Block” and “In Time” with hope that at least one of the pieces would be juried into the show. I was not disappointed. “Writer’s Block” will be on display, with many other fine art pieces from Kentucky artists, November 22-December 21 at 1945 Scottsville Rd. (This is in Thoroughbred Square behind Rafferty’s.) The opening reception is tonight from 6-8pm. The gallery will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-4pm and Saturdays from 11am-2pm. Please stop by and support the Kentucky arts.
Anyone who really knows me, knows that summer is my absolute favorite season. Give me sunshine and heat any day over darkness and cold! There are so many beautiful things to photograph when summer arrives. Some of my favorites are butterflies and flowers. Here are a few of my finds from our local Lost River Cave Butterfly House.
The April pARTy installment took place at Circus Square Park this past Tuesday evening. The weather was great and the sunlight was perfect for photography. I happened to have a new lens that I wanted to test and this was a great setting to do just that.
Be on the lookout for the next pARTy to be announced soon. Come join us for an evening of art and have fun making some new friends.
I recently had the honor of receiving a Merit Award for “It’s My Cup of Tea” at the Medical Center’s Women in the Arts Exhibit here in Bowling Green. This is a wonderful exhibit held each spring for women artists. There are always some beautiful pieces on display during the event. I highly recommend going by for a peek.
I’ve recently been invited to a couple of get-togethers involving local artists of many genres. I look forward to these nights when they are announced. The one I attended in March was at a local tattoo parlor that was in the process of relocating to this awesome space. (Visit Age of Reason when you get a chance to do so.) Because they were not yet moved in, there was plenty of room for the pARTy to be held in the shop. There was a great turnout for the evening and I tried my hand at something different for me. I’m not sure I’d call this event photography, or even lifestyle photography, but I enjoyed it just the same.
I’m looking forward to the next pARTy coming up April 16. It’s going to be held at Circus Square Park here in downtown Bowling Green and it’s open to the public. Stop by and meet some really cool artists. Bring your supplies and join the fun. Who knows? I might even bring my crayons and paper this time.
I’m happy to announce my next basic photography workshops for teens. I’m offering two sessions to cover spring breaks for area schools. The first session will be Monday, March 25, and the second session will be Wednesday, April 3. The workshop is the same as my Basic Photography class, but is open only to teens and young adults so that they might be more comfortable learning together with their peers.
Time – 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on March 25 or April 3. (Drinks and light snacks will be provided.)
Place – Cheree Federico Photography studio in Bowling Green
What – This is a beginner’s workshop designed to get you more comfortable with your camera. You will learn the exposure triangle, composition, white balance, shooting and metering modes, where to find natural light, and all about lenses. You will need to bring your camera and manual and will need to be familiar with your camera. A follow-along workbook for you to take home will be provided.

Please contact me at email@example.com for more details or to register. Thanks!

It’s time for the February installment of Fine Art Friday. I just happened to have an image printed this week for an upcoming exhibit and thought it would fit the bill for today as well. These are my husband’s work boots and I just love all the textures from the boots, the picnic table, and the surroundings.
Head on over to visit Laura Meeks, Albuquerque, NM Area Photographer and see what she has in store for you today.
As a member of 4 The Love of Focus, I was thrilled to join their Fine Art Friday group. This is my first time to participate in this type of share as I tend to keep to myself more than I join in groups. How fitting, then, that my first image for FAF is also something a bit different from my normal style of photography. I’m not generally a landscape photographer, nor do I convert many images to black and white. So, I’ve aptly named this image Branching Out. It’s from a creek that is not far from my home and was taken this past fall. I’ve always wanted a photo of the roots, but never really knew what to do until my husband I and went for a walk one morning and I noticed the reflection of them in the creek. I just knew this was what I wanted. I hope you like it as well.
Next up on the stop is Kay Pickens | Fine Art Photography. Be sure to leave a comment on each post as you make the rounds to view the wonderful art from the ladies. They’d love to know you stopped by for a peek.
I just came across a great article about taking the time to learn photography before spending tons of money on expensive equipment. Read the article here: Photography Talk. What better way to share my Black Friday offer with you! Mention that you read this article and receive 15% off a Beginner’s or Advanced four hour class. Offer is good through midnight Friday. Don’t miss this great deal! (Especially if you went out shopping and found a great deal on a dSLR. : ) ) I look forward to hearing from you.
