I’m a member of ArtWorks, Inc., a local group that advocates arts in all mediums. Each year, ArtWorks sponsors the All Kentucky Juried Exhibition. This exhibit is open to all professional and amateur artists in Kentucky. This year, I entered “Writer’s Block” and “In Time” with hope that at least one of the pieces would be juried into the show. I was not disappointed. “Writer’s Block” will be on display, with many other fine art pieces from Kentucky artists, November 22-December 21 at 1945 Scottsville Rd. (This is in Thoroughbred Square behind Rafferty’s.) The opening reception is tonight from 6-8pm. The gallery will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-4pm and Saturdays from 11am-2pm. Please stop by and support the Kentucky arts.
Anyone who really knows me, knows that summer is my absolute favorite season. Give me sunshine and heat any day over darkness and cold! There are so many beautiful things to photograph when summer arrives. Some of my favorites are butterflies and flowers. Here are a few of my finds from our local Lost River Cave Butterfly House.
I’m happy to announce my next basic photography workshops for teens. I’m offering two sessions to cover spring breaks for area schools. The first session will be Monday, March 25, and the second session will be Wednesday, April 3. The workshop is the same as my Basic Photography class, but is open only to teens and young adults so that they might be more comfortable learning together with their peers.
Time – 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on March 25 or April 3. (Drinks and light snacks will be provided.)
Place – Cheree Federico Photography studio in Bowling Green
What – This is a beginner’s workshop designed to get you more comfortable with your camera. You will learn the exposure triangle, composition, white balance, shooting and metering modes, where to find natural light, and all about lenses. You will need to bring your camera and manual and will need to be familiar with your camera. A follow-along workbook for you to take home will be provided.
Cost – $150 due upon registration.
Please contact me at email@example.com for more details or to register. Thanks!

Ric and I spent Saturday morning at Lost River Cave and Trails with several members of the Sunny Sixteen Photography Club. It was a great morning to be out on the trails taking photographs of the beautiful fall foliage. I was concerned that I wouldn’t find anything new to photograph while we were there, but was once again proved wrong. There is always something new for the eyes to see at Lost River.
This past weekend I went on the Kelby World Wide Photo Walk with a group of fellow photographers here in Bowling Green, KY. This was the first year I had participated in the walk and I really had a great time. I’ll definitely be going on the walk in future years. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:
A few rays of sunshine to brighten your day!
On a recent Sunday morning, Ric and I were driving around Bowling Green searching for inspiration for an upcoming photo exhibit I am participating in with the Sunny Sixteen Photography Club. The theme for the exhibit is In “Reverse” due to it being in conjunction with a classic car show in Franklin, KY. We spotted a few old cars for sale in a local body shop parking lot. I am generally not one to go for full shots of anything and this time was no different. I tried to capture a few details of a couple of the cars and really liked the rusty, worn-out feel of the images I walked away with when I was finished shooting. Here’s to the classics!
I recently spent part of an afternoon hanging out with a friend and fellow photographer at Lost River Cave. Anyone who knows me, will know I have to visit the Butterfly House every time I am there. I am a butterfly fanatic! I only wish there were more varieties to see in the habitat. On this recent afternoon, there was certainly an abundance of butterflies flying around everywhere in the house. A few even landed so I could snap a shot or two!
My favorite shot of the day from a walk around the WKU campus here in Bowling Green this morning.
